(PUK) ATR Manifold Blanks Machined

Post by NafemanNathan » Thu Feb 09, 2012 12:31 am

Well I had a very welcomed flying visit from my good friend "Dale the machinist" last night. For those of you who don't know, I'd supplied him with some aluminium profiles I'd measured up and had laser cut...

Image

I'd also been a little creative with the design and dimensioned up a bit of detail work for Dale to tackle...

Image

Anyway, last night Dale brought over these delights :D (And the pictures really aren't doing these justice by the way) They look amazing!...

Image

Image

And they fit perfectly to ;-) (This one gives you an idea of the perfect flush fitment of the caphead bolts)...

Image

That bottom hole is offset like that on the IACV by the way, so can't be helped ;-) ...

Now these are actually what we're considering prototypes ;-) and just to give you an idea of Dale's skill, he actually machined those pockets and chamfers by hand! But he is actually keen to start going into production with these and many more Prelude related items that he'll CNC machine, so the final products will be to perfection. I've got numerous ideas of what he can produce for the more often than not forgotten Prelude ;-) and finishes will be either bare aluminium or potentially anodized depending on numbers. For now I'll just gauge peoples potential interest from your reactions here... They're may be none whatsoever for all I know  , but I know there was a splurdge of ATR manifold users recently, and at the moment the only capping plates I know of is from Shaun at Rosko Racing, so it would be great to be able to source such a thing from within the UK :)

Cheers guys :)

Yeah, I'll have to develop an IACV conversion plate as well.

That was Catia V4 Phil.

Well chuffed :D Got so many ideas of what he can do. Such a shame he hasn't got his own workshop sorted yet (He did these in his Dad's). He's wants to get his own CNC machine, then he'd be able to reel these things off to order. He'll still be able to make these to order now, but I think he intends to do 5 sets at a time as he'll have to pop to his old place of work and use their CNC machine (He obviously left on good terms ;-) ).

Actually Merc, he does want a business name. His surname is Waterfield and I think that could work on it's own. I'd be keen to design him a logo for that as well, but he's not so keen. However, having written "Dale the Machinist" at the top of that post earlier, I was simply thinking "DTM" could work  Just did a goggle search though and DTM currently comes up with "Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters" (German touring car masters), so is that a bit too well related do you think?
