Manifold Heatshield Needed ?

Post by toadster » Mon Mar 11, 2013 6:36 pm

LO All :D

I have noticed lately that a lot of Lude engine bays don't have the manifold heat shield fitted or the manifold heat wrapped.
Will this cause an issue with heat onto the bonnet or is the heatshield really just a safety feature , not that it stays cool mind

Only asking as i have seen a nice stainless 2.0i manifold which would be a shame to cover-up :(

Cheers ;)

You'll have no issues running a manifold without a heat shield or heat wrap. Go for it! ;-)

It's there so be slightly cooler than the exhaust manifold itself, in case you do accidentally touch, but also it helps retain some of the heat around the manifold keeping it hotter to allow the gases to flow quicker. It's really not going to make much of a difference on any of our engines though ;-)
