Right, everybody backup LOL.
Car was a Suziki Swift, was going in backwards....
Thanks for the suggestions etc, unfortunately I know very well about changing a door though: this one was acquired from Bri a few years back when some kebab tried to steal the car and butchered the door skin in the process. I don't really want to do it all again - when it's bugger all to do with me TBH!
I have sourced a door if need be, but the double pisser is I've just refitted my own glass from the LAST time I did the door, and sorted the various little niggles like the rattly glass etc, I don't want to do it all again and cost myself time and petrol in the process, especially when I have a little'un due in 3 weeks
Going to head to the body shop that recently did the arch for me and see what happens, will update.

Same as above though. Having had a better look today, they really should be able to push it out again, and only need a thin skim of filler to reshape. As long as they use a straight edge and slide it down the dorr during the sanding process, I'm quietly confident.RattyMcClelland wrote:New door. I would bother trying to get that filler and panel beated.
New door is easier.

Good luck mateybennyboy wrote:Well, took it to the body shop today and he had a look over and is confident that he can repair the existing door. \o/![]()
I'd much rather this option TBH, as it means I have a nice new perfect door (in theory) and it's a lot less work for me.
Fingers crossed.....

Cheers

So, after a conversation with her insurance, turns out they can of course write the car off, if they deem that the repair bill is more than 60% of the 'market value' of the car.
Quote is £532.80, which by my calculations means the engineer that is coming to inspect my car has to value my car at £888 or less. If they even think of trying.....
In all seriousness, I may have to draw on this lovely place, to prove that they will not find a lude in my spec and condition for sale for £888 anywhere
The car is 20 years old now, give or take, time to try and get an agreed value/classic policy again methinks.

Hope you get it sorted buddy.
It winds me up when you park at the back of a car park with no cars around, you come out of the shop and someone has park right next to you!!!
My mate parked his Integra away from a supermarket a few years ago at about 5pm, came out and some chavs had walked all over his car.... dents on the roof and bonnet

Update:
Just had the engineer turn up to asses the car, turned up in a Honda
Nice guy actually, loves his Honda's, knew all about 4WS etc before I had chance to say a word.
The long and the short of it is that he said he looked at the paperwork before he came out and thought it was going to be near the cut off for uneconomical to repair, but said that he figured it wouldn't be an ordinary (rusty) example, and he was right.
He has basically told me that it won't be written off \o/ and that he will hopefully get back to me today or tomorrow latest to get the repair actioned.
Just as well as it's MOT day tomorrow too.....
Now all I need is the Mrs to drop while I'm 2 hours away
