Agreed value - your input appreciated

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

My AGV of £2.5 is worst case scenario in the event of an accident. So about £3k I think.
I know what you are saying, I had to think about it....a lot.

Is there anyone who would by my car now for more than £3k though? (I may have well under valued it if there is a queue!!)

p.s. NOT including the number plate :D

the criteria is he works for the insurance company ;)

Yes! Me! I genuinely would be prepared to pay that if I had to replace mine, value is whatever someone is prepared to pay - if I'm prepared to give you 5k and you're prepared to take it, we have conlcuded that its worth 5k IMO.

Thats a lot of 'prepared's....!

I dont believe so. He was a fellow mustang owner, but had some kind of official valuer status?

Modifications covered like for like up until the write of threshold, which is about 60% of the vehicle's value.

To justify this, I've used this example before.. Think Citreon Saxo, with a hideous bodykit, hideous custom interior, zausts, you know the sort of thing... the sort of thing you laugh out loud at when you see one driving along. £20k spent on modifications. Resale value - £1500. Where would you agree the value on that? If an insurer agrees anything near the money spent then it's a fraudulent claim waiting to happen.

Nice, low mileage, sub £2k.. if I was looking for a new car, I'd consider this:

No, I totally accept that, and as much as I would love an AGV of 10k, I also know it's not realistic and I for one am not saying that.
IMO, if my car got written off and I had to replace, and @H10ndr only wanted £3k, I'd be round there in a heartbeat. But truth is, he wouldn't let it go for that, I reckon I'd have to wave £5k at him to consider it, so you see what I'm saying, it's value is THAT amount, isn't it.

If I was looking for a replacement Lude and had the money, knowing the history of yours, I wouldn't be put off by the asking price. Having been into Preludes for 8 years now, I know what you get for your money, and although generally you get a lot of motor for your money, there are leagues, and above a certain league it's a case of getting what you pay for. Both yours and Ben's car being in the condition they are in are in the top league IMO, and then Ben's being higher due to the engine. I appreciate what all these attributes are worth, and sure you can get a sub 100k miles Prelude for under £1k, but it will come with issues, and at that price it will come with rusty arches, so I know that it'll cost more than the cost of buying your car off you to get a £1k Lude to the same standard as yours (And that's just bodywork wise!)... Which in my mind is all I'd truly be happy driving.

Yes, and that's totally incomparable to mine.

This looks tidy too:
