the mot rules are changing soon and any light on dash will be a failure so most mot test stations are refusing
to do mot now if a light is on (just telling you to get it fixed and then bring the car back) so a lot of people are pulling the bulbs getting mot and then selling the car on quick. this looks like the prime example but how many people are going to get hurt as a result?
good luck with it m8 hope it goes well and you are in good hands with this lot and the knowledge they have

This shouldn't be the case as the light is supposed to come on on start up and then go out immediately after to show it's working. I guess if the MOTer isn't aware the car has 4WS and there's no light to tell him then it could go unchecked, but seriously... He should know whether a car has 4WS or not ;-)

My ABS went faulty a few years ago, so I took the feed from the battery warning light and fed it to the ABS bulb. It comes on when you start the car and goes off as intended. A bit dodgy I know. Maybe we'll see some more of these bodges in the future.

I had the same done to my old CRX. I didn't feel bad about it as the brakes were really good without ABS and also there are many cars out there that have never had ABS to start with. Also, Honda wanted about £1200 to fix it

Can you get to a Halfords or MotorFactor with the bulb for them to match it?

If it stays on solid then you have a problem.

Do the paperclip trick and it should flash at you to give you error code.

But now you've established there is an issue with the 4WS, I wouldn't drive the car unless absolutely necessary.
