I have been offered a pair of 20mm spacers, I was thinking of putting them on the rear of my car to bring the wheels out in to the arches a bit more. If I don't space out the fronts as well will it adversely effect the handling?

It should have any noticable effect no. Will it put the tyres past the arch though?

No, it should just put the tyres quite close to the arch - at the minute they look as sucked as Kate Moss's cheeks.

Although are they hubcentric with extended bolts?

Cool, I was unsure about having different track width between the front and rears. Also wondered if the spacing of wheels would put undue stress on the wheel bearings? I remember watching Bernie and Leepu put 6inch spacers on the back of everything they have ever built and always wondered if they were going to snap off!

Yeah 20mm really isn't enough to cause an issue. You could almost have that much difference in track widths simply by fitting different tyres on the back.

My concern would be if those 20mm spacers you have are simply just spacers though, as you won't be left with a decent enough amount of thread engagement :?

So I may need longer studs/wheel nuts?

Longer studs, yes I'm afraid so.
