How have you managed this out of interest, is the actuator electronic on these JRSC kits? Mine is run from a vacuum source. Please explain, sounds like a great idea. 8)
The original vacuum operated valve is still connected up, the plan is to use either a boost by gear actutor and dual sided vacuum valve, or an electronic central door locking mechanism. I am going to start playing with this later down the road.

Ok guys, due to the overwhelming amount of peer pressure I have caved in and decided to put the battery in the boot. As I don't want the battery on show and as I use my boot quite a bit I will be removing the spare wheel and fitting it into the boot. Do I need to be concerned about fumes from the battery in an enclosed space?

Out of interest how much does our spare wheels weigh?

13kg for our spare wheel.
Good choice on the battery movement. You want only the K20 and poopercharger on show.

Peer pressure!

You know it makes sense.

Technically, yes they do give off gases and should be in a sealed battery box unless you use a sealed gel type one (like I have). But seen plenty of cars in the UK with normal battery's in the boot and no issues.

Think I get the bypass actuator ideas, interesting. A simple override with a central locking mechanism sounds very straight forward. I'll have a ponder about that after I've fitted all mine (a while off then! :? ).

Thanks for the info, thats another good chunk of weight off the car!

What model gel type battery do you have? The only ones I have found have been over £100.. Does it struggle to start the car or has it been no trouble at all?

I have an odyssey PC680, it's tiny and weighs a fraction of the original, in a custom battery tray.

I'll be honest though, not fitted it and fired her up from it. But plenty of people in the states run them, they have enough juice.

Not cheap, but nice batteries.

Thanks, looked at the prices on those and think its worth fitting one now rather than later, do you know the cheapest place to buy one? Plus i'd save a further 8.5kg or so :)

I see that the terminals are threaded holes, do they come with studs? If so, what size are they?

This is all in aid of fuel economy, the idea is that it removes the pressure difference across the super charger rotors and reduces heat build up, however a good economy mod is to fit a warm air intake to reduce pumping losses at partial throttle so this information kind of contradicts each other more or less, so i'll do some runs up and down the motorway for a set distance, then jam the bypass fully open and repeat the same test to see if gets better or worse. I''ll head off with a full tank and measure how much it takes to fill up both with and without the charger bypassed.

Or you could always be a guinea pig and try one of these...

I looked at them a long while back and all the specs were the same or better than the PC680. Even the overall dimension... Made me think it was the same battery but in a different outfit possibly :?
