h22 head conversion

Post by mrkh22 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 4:39 pm

can anybody please tell me how easy it is to run an h22a7 cylinder head from an accord type r on my h22a5 5th gen? I know the head will fit but not sure about inlet manifolds etc.
all advise is greatly appreciated as I need to either rebuild my head or swap it soon
thanks

you can run the atr inlet mani, fuel rail, injectors and throttle body with the a7 head on an a5 block but will require a tune and a conversion to obd1 due the injectors if i recall correctly
I hit the limiter in my h23 vtec still didn't kick in

If you fit just the a7 head on a standard block and run your standard h22a5 cams and inlet manifold there is no real need to tune.

If you're running the ATR cams, then ideally you need a tune.

If you run the ATR inlet manifold, then you need a tune.

If you're using the ATR injectors, then you need to convert your harness.

I have the stock prelude IM on my otherwise complete H22A7 (PDE head / H22A7 block), so it fits. Richy (PA) did the conversion.

Dont need to change the harness if he's on a5 for injectors, mine didn't. Will need a custom fuel line if you use the rail tho
