10/40 engine oil into a box
Ive been told to put 10/40 engine oil into are las box instead of honda mtf. (this has come from a ek9 race serises boy) whats ur thoughts

Nah. In an emergency maybe - but no one runs engine oil in the gearbox unless they have to, especially when proper MTF is available.

Nay that what i said to him and he said that honda mtf 3 was no good along with other gear oils. When they heated up round track he was cruchen into gears and even drokked a box up on him. He said he rung silconline and they told him to do it and a year later she still good. This fella has 3 or civics he says he uses it in.

Don't think any of the guys who take their cars on track on here would use anything other than a decent MTF man. Standard gearbox oil just doesn't have the additives to work properly IMO.
I wonder if he put thick gearbox oil in his? You need to use MTF designed for Honda boxes - normal gearbox oil is too thick for a Honda setup.
