Removing manifold nuts

Post by lxstuart » Thu May 16, 2013 9:17 pm

The nuts that hold the manifold to the downpipe, is there an easy way of getting these off?

I've got two of them off, its just the last one that is refusing to give. I've tried big sockets (3/4 drive), hammering the sh1t out of it, drifts......

Still not budging. The only way of getting any heat on it would be to remove the rads, and I don't much fancy that.

Next option is to try to drill it, though something tells me that wont go too well either.

How do people normally get these off, or is there another way to remove the mani & downpipe?

Most of the time I like to shear them off ;-)

Can you get a socket on it without it rounding then?

I would be so happy if it sheared, yet it refuses to do even that.

And I can't find the charger for my dremel
