Looking for a Gen3 MANUAL scrapper or similar.

Post by CrunchyAdams82 » Sat Jun 08, 2013 5:56 pm

Alright Peeps,

I'm going to be needing a manual Gen3 donor car for my planned H22 conversion at some point in the near future.

I've now got a 1988/H Auto Gen3 & need a manual one to harvest all the relevant parts from.

If anybody sees one about, I'd be interested in hearing about it. ;)

Cheers.

Can't you rob what you need from a donor H22 motor?

Some parts certainly, but I'm going to need a few bespoke things like IP Dials, ECU (maybe), Pedal Box, OBD1 Conversion Harness, Gear Shifter & Linkages, Transmission Mount for manual, Throttle Linkages, Brake Sensor on pedal w/plug, Clutch Sensor on pedal w/plug, etc. And the list goes on..

So it's going to make the most sense me just getting a manual one that I can strip down. One that somebody is scrapping because of poor bodywork/welding issues for example.

;-)

It's a facelift model though (not that that should matter for what you want) but I don't know whether it's a manual or not.

Just out of interest, is your Prelude on a private plate? I think H reg is 1991 as that's what my Golf is on, 1988 should be E reg like my Scirocco?

As for a donor, how much are you looking to spend? Car and Classic is usually good for older Hondas, I've seen a few sub £1,000 3rd gens come and go on there :)

Can't see you needing a full car as the only thing I can think of that you'll use is the clocks (but not essential), clutch and brake pedals.
Maybe the gear linkage, but the 3rd gen might not fit the h22 box and might be better off fabbing the later gen gear lever to fit.
You won't use the 3rd gen ECU.
You'll need the H22 engine loom.
The motor mounts will be aftermarket items.
