Am only looking to spend a maximum of about £400 really mate. Ideally £200 if I can; only need a few bits off if you know.
Vtecmec wrote:Can't see you needing a full car as the only thing I can think of that you'll use is the clocks (but not essential), clutch and brake pedals.
Maybe the gear linkage, but the 3rd gen might not fit the h22 box and might be better off fabbing the later gen gear lever to fit.
You won't use the 3rd gen ECU.
You'll need the H22 engine loom.
The motor mounts will be aftermarket items.
I know about the engine mounts; @honda-hardy knows a guy who's got a set. Just can't afford them right now. They'll probo be one of the last things I get.

Regarding the rest of it, are you in the know about what parts I will need then? And would it be simple enough to fab a gen4 shifter in? And will H22 gear-shift cables fit? If not, what do I use?

I would prefer to get only the parts I need of course, but I think I might struggle to get hold of them tbh. Not widely available anymore. Hence me thinking about just getting a whole donor car. Although they're not exactly a common sight either. At least that way if there were any parts we overlooked, I would have them at my fingertips..

I thought this the other night. Initially when I read this post I just took it as a basic B20a auto to manual conversion, but then thought after I'd posted that I thought you wanted to do an H22 conversion, so you're going to need to run an H22a ECU etc.

Yeah, it's going to be a bit more complicated for sure, but perfectly do-able from what I gather. Will defo need your help with this, as you tend to be in the know about these things. As well as being quite resourceful. I've seen your shed full of parts! :P

Just got to establish exactly what parts I need, how they are going to fit, and where to get them from/get them made. Then I can start putting a plan together.

Having never seen under the bonnet of a manual 3rd gen, not really in the know.

@NafemanNathan has intimate knowledge of his 4th, and owns a manual 3rd so maybe could shed some light regarding the shifter, though the 5th gen shifter is just 4 bolts to keep it in place with the cables running through to the engine bay, can't be that hard to make it work?

When I auto to manual'd my 4th gen the accelerator remained untouched as they are the same, it will probably be the same with the 3rds, so getting a car for that part will do you no favours.

 Yeah, I do have a few spares that may come in useful lol.

I can certainly compare gear linkages for you when I've got a bit of time :)

That would be great. Thanks mate. I'll start compiling a list of parts as I go along.

Can't find any how to's online, but the civic boys use the H series shifter and cables.

Have you thought about or looked into driveshafts?

I suspect that you will have to use the inner CV joints from the H22, the outer CV joints from your 3rd, but no idea on which actual shaft, or even if you'll need a bespoke one or not.
