You'd be benefiting from the mild p&p from the Type-S head, but that alone isn't going to see you any real noticable gains. It'd be the cams that see you that added performance, but it'd all be enhanced if you had an ATR inlet and a tune as it'd help it breathe a lot better.

Yeah, for a proper tune you'd need something like Hondata really. You're still not going to see any remarkable figures though really, so you have to ask yourself if the slightly added performance is going to be worth all the extra £####.

I assumed there was a reason he can't just drop the whole engine in? Bottom end issues or something :?

yeah I was gonna go down this route a while ago with 1 of robs spoon chips. P28 is good as its OBD2 so wouldn't need a conversion harness. but ive got a brand new harness anyway so could also go down the P13 route ;)

any benefits are good 8-) cams will definitely be going in. I don't think I'll bother with the ATR intake, the Type S 1 should be fine for the minimal gains im after ;)

its the tuning side of things which are gonna cost me then :!:

Yeah, £550 for Hondata S300 in a P28 (although you might be able to find a P28 cheaper elsewhere). A P28 is OBD1, so you'll need that harness converter I'm afraid, and then there's dyno and tuning time on top, which... I wouldn't be able to guess at.

serios question, have you considered using the whole motor and blanking off the atts crap?

the type s head will give minimal gains for the £££ it'll cost to swap the head, imo its a bit of a waste

cant use the whole engine because of the ATTS, it bolts onto the block, so i'd have to have a blanking plate slapped on there. I believe the s-spec has an M2Z4 gearbox. I have an M2T4 which apparently has the same ratios :?:

as far as I know, the whole engine was sound and pulled well.
newkid wrote:The cams, decent header and spoon chipped ecu seen my engine up to 229 from 197, now it has decat/catback so id be hoping for the same. The plan if i can sort out the tapping noise is atr inlet/ bigger throttle body plus a proper map, im hoping for 240/245 from that.

As Rich pointed out tho the 229 is in 4th, all his maps are done in 5th which will give slightly less due to the ratios.
i'd be happy with an extra 30bhp tbh, that should take me close to 220bhp hopefully 8-)

oh right, thought it was OBD2 from an ep3 civic
