Ah, well that'd be one thing to correct right there. That's currently about 84mm on the rolling circumference too big. 195/40r17's is practically the standard size if you want to stick to 17's.

i think i need to step in here for a sec. the wheels were perfect for me when driving the car. it was just an old cruiser. never drove it hard to the point where i needed to brake hard or wonder if the extra 84mm rolling radius made such a difference. now the brakes i gave with the car to Andy are just standard oe equivalent made by brembo and blueprint saving up to £150+.

Andy is changing the car from an old retro cruiser Honda that i used to mainly plod around in winking at the ladies whilst getting a suntan on my right arm to a car that it was never designed to be. putting an engine in with 75+ more bhp and more weight is going to need bigger brakes. so the fact that the wheels are wrong is unfounded, infact this has saved him money because he can fit bigger brakes behind them than if he were to put the standard 14" steelies.

the discs and pads will need up rating on the front Andy. you may even need to uprate the master cylinder and servo too.
the car is lowered so you will need the traction bar. unless you fit the oe springs and shox i supplied with the car.
i think you underestimated the amount of work required when you took on this project.
i never wanted to convert the engine ever, so never even considered looking for what was required or how involved it could get. alot more homework is required to get this to where you want it.

perhaps it may pay you to ditch the 2.2vtec idea and fit an engine that with cope with the chassis set up. b20a7 like ratty had, 160bhp. spend your money getting that tuned. and enjoy the car for what it is and not what it isnt.

I don't think there was a need to "step in" Sam... We knew all that ;-) :lol:

I'll step in and say I know it's going to be a lot of work, and I knew that when I bought it. But that makes it all the better in my eyes. When I finally get it right it's going to be a cracking car! I don't mind how much it costs; it's a labour of love. That's what a project is all about to me. :)

The fact is, there's no problem that can't be overcome if you throw enough money at it! :lol:

And 'what it isn't' - it will eventually be. ;) It has a good chassis, beautiful looks, and Honda have a great racing heritage. So everything I want from it can be achieved. If it weren't a challenge, the end result could never be truly appreciated.

So keep the faith, and we'll push on with making this a 'one of a kind' prelude. I can't do it on my own; it would take me years to acquire the cumulative knowledge you guys possess. And most of the joy I get from something like this is working with other people who share the same passion. 8-)

Lets have fun making it happen. Whatever it takes, that's fine with me. I'll have to progress it month by month, as and when I've got the available cash, but slowly over time it will come to fruition. :wink:
