OBD0-OBD1 Conversion Harness?

Post by CrunchyAdams82 » Sun Jul 14, 2013 12:04 am

G'day.

One of the many things I'm needing to collect for my Gen 3 H22 conversion is a OBD0-OBD1 conversion harness, which will simply enable me to plug in the H22 ECU.

I have found this one on eBay for approximately £70 all told:

I'm just wondering, is this the part I need, & is it reliable? Because I've also seen the same thing for £337! Is there any difference between the two?

@Tramroadmotors, @RattyMcClelland, any ideas? :)

im confused, if you are using a h22 engine, why do you need a conversion harness? if you have a donor car and various transplant part, whats wrong with using the loom from the donor car too.

It makes connecting everything up that much easier Sam. Then you don't have to worry about anything cockpit side of the bulkhead, because believe me there are more wires under the dash than in the engine bay and it's a lot more confusing under there.

With the second one you actually get a chipped P28 ecu with a basemap to suit your spec as well and Ry-Wire are one of the best when it comes to automobile harnesses and looms. Where as I've never heard of Zerg Industries (The first one).

Obviously still a lot of money, but @Scott@H-Tune is the seller of the more expensive one and this is really his thing, so definitely worth speaking with him.

You leave the standard loom in as far as I'm aware, for whatever reason. Maybe because it's a pig to remove?

And then you fit this harness because the plugs for the ECU won't fit without it.

So not entirely sure of the reason why the whole loom doesn't get changed, but there must be a good reason because this part is quite widely used in the civic community, and it wouldn't exist as a part if it wasn't necessary.

Can I even use a chipped P28 with the H22A2 I'm fitting initially?

Yes, but you don't need to unless you want to tune.

I won't be wanting to tune this engine particularly. It's just a stop-gap for 12 months or so while I build a project H22A1. This one will be tuned!

I might just opt for the cheaper harness for now if you think it's useable? Then upgrade to the better one once the project engine is ready. Make sense? :?

I'm sure it'll work. Just check the net for Zerg Industries rep. The only thing that concerns me is what are all those tails for?

Well there's also this one for about £80:

Or this one for a little over £90:

And they all appear to have those tails..even the more expensive one if you look closely.

So I guess it's normal.

Just check they come with a wiring diagram for all those tails then.
