LED Indicators

Post by Gayno » Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:47 pm

Popped over to Confused's this evening.

For those of you that know the car, Confused built LED indicator and sidelights into the sidelight unit in the JDM one piece headlights. However at the last MOT the tester took a disliking to the colour of the sidelight LEDs. So I wired the sidelights into the bumper indicator units with 5W clear bulbs as you can see in this pic:

This now meant that the indicator LEDs looked a bit sparse, so I wanted to populate it a bit more for a bit more substantial output. This is what we ended up with, and damn can Confused solder at speed!!!

Only got the one done tonight, but hopefully will have the other side done by the weekend and the headlights all back together and back on the car.

LED Indicators Continued...

Post by Gayno » Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:20 pm

Thursday night saw Confused and I pull apart the other headlight and perform the above to the other indicator. We even went to the trouble of matching the little connecting wires on the back of the boards identically mirror opposite!!

Anywho....

Back into the headlights:

and testing:

Headlight units are now all sealed back up and ready to go back on the car.

I have my MOT next Saturday, and currently the car has no:

Headlights
Front bumper
Rear Bumper
Foglight
Interior
Charge in the battery

I'm going to have my work cut out over the next week!!
