Looking good. My oil cooler opens at 92degrees c. It's the mocal in line one. But since mine inst a track car i doubt it will get used much.

edit...no mine is 80degrees C also.

Looks cracking Al. My old one opened at 80C and oil temp remained steady.
With track work it never really saw over 95C but that was using a 16 row cooler on dc2.

Good work bud. I've just bit the bullet and bought an oil filter relocation and oil cooler setup. Just need to add the Mocal inline stat like Ratty's. Looking at the length, I hope I have enough length on the AN lines now... :?

Well I don't have enough. Going to have to get more hoses and an-10 to an-10 adapters to extend some lines since the charger is in the way. Gutted if it leaks, charger off job.

I had kept a battery for you - would just need a trickle charge to top it up
a new battery would always be better tho ;)

Sensors

Post by Merlin » Mon Sep 30, 2013 9:48 am

I completed the installation of all the sensors for the my new dials and thought I should share the locations that I chose.

Water Temp - Thermostat housing
The thermostat housing is supposedly the best location for an accurate water temp reading. I used the bleed nipple location and drilled out the bottom of the bleed nipple hole. The nipple hole is 1/8 BSP thread while after market sensors are 1/8 NTP. The difference is 1 thread per inch so I just rattled it in there with a bit of sealer. It is possible to bleed the collant system by removing the hose that usually goes up to the FITV/IACV from the thermostat housing.

Oil Pressure - OEM Oil pressure warning sensor
I junked the OEM oil pressure warning sensor as it is completely useless even on a standard car (it only activates at 6 PSI :tosser:). The remote after market oil pressure sensor requires a capillary line to take oil to it. I put the oil pressure sensor near the fire wall away from most things.

Pic also shows my new water hoses in their new location going though the firewall. The OEM location for these is right behind the engine in a PITA place.

Oil Temp - Oil Sump
When Performance AutoWorks made my sump I got them to put a temp sensor hole in. Again this was 1/8 BSP and I rattled in the 1/8 NTP sensor.

The dials take a power feed from after the ignition and a power feed for their illumination from the head light relay.
