Petes Matt black track weapon 'shiterider' new 2014 spec

Post by 106pete » Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:23 pm

hi everyone, thought id show you my lude as im so proud of it, i seriously never expect it to be this good!!

this is the earliest pic i have found after flying to leeds and buying it off ebay ;). obviously something was goin to be wrong with it and it made the trip home faultless... nearly just drank ALOT of oil!
Image
found the oil leak was due to the sump being held on by just 3 tight bolts, we then started on some serious stripping, and matt black, evo 4 seats on custom frames came at a bargin.
Image

here it is ready for the first track day at castle combe, notice my last track hack parked in front... rover 414 si, alot of laughs that car :)
Image

had 2 awesome sessions on track.
Image

then this happened:
Image
the clutch broke up and jammed on, so decided to drive home. 3 miles down the road it started working again and felt perfect again, anyway this couldnt happen on track again so new xtd clutch and fly wheel when on, and im really happy with them.

i believe the clutch happened due to the clutch damper, so swiftly removed it and had a custom braided pipe made, also saved about 2kg taking it off!!!

Here's a couple videos from back in 2010

i really wanted some sexy wheels on and a front splitter so i went shopping.
Image

so far ive done several days at castle combe and a long weekend at the nurburg ring, the car has done fantastic and only the chimps operating it letting the side down :)

On the way to Germany just leaving home the exhaust manifold clipped a speed bump and damaged the lower bracket which eventually ripped itself off and left us to repair it early morning the next day.

Neither of us spoke german but managed to talk a garage into letting us use there broken welding machine to fix the holes ourselves

Image
Just goes to show how nice they are doesn't it? After welding/ drilling and tapping out some broken studs they were so impressed we got offered a job haha.

while the weather had been to bad to use the lude (remember no heaters?) i decided to fit my new poly bush kit and found myself some free time in work to modify some of the arms and they just got back from the powerder coaters.

thats the rear done just need some dry weather to get it all back on, and i found my rear subframe is a little rusty so replaced it for a better one and seam welded it and had it powder coated to match.

This is a pic from castle Combe 2011, I've now sold the wheels

The car looks mean  and some nice mods! Have you noticed any extra stiffness in the car since the cage has been installed? Does it make it corner any better?

I love how raw this car is, but how there's still so much attention to detail... Where it matters ;-) Keep it up Pete.

You're going to Japfest right? Got any track time?
