Well here's an update on the work I've managed to get done since Monday.
I've got the CDS pipe in, found that it doesn't like the pipe bender, so I have resorted to angle cuts and welds to construct it. This is the pipe in process of being welded in the jig I kinda half assed made for holding the pipe at the correct angles and stop it rolling about.
This is one of the side bars against the original swingarm for length comparison. Wheel base should be almost exactly the same as a trike, which is what I wanted
All 4 of the side lengths welded up. 4 of the welds were done by my mate, the other 4 were my very first attempt at arc welding, and I'm really happy with how it's all come out.
Lastly, this is one side with the axle clamp tacked into position as well.
It's certainly getting there. Taking a bit of time as my mates are helping me out between jobs, but all in all, definitely happy with the progress. Should hopefully have both sides built up by the weekend. Still gotta get some flat steel to cut and weld in at the front end of the sides to mount the bearing and carrier to. With how it's looking at the moment, I'm somewhat tempted to get some flat steel and have sides on the swingarm for aesthetic reasons, but we shall see once the main part of it is all built.
