It's still a little controversial as to whether the design is a winner, but the theory in my head is that it expels the gases a lot quicker. You know if you have a cola bottle and fill it with water to rinse it out? Say the bottle is half full... If you just tip it upside down, it takes ages for the water to glug out right? But if you put the same amount of water in the bottle and give it a quick spin as you invert it, the whirlpool effect makes the water pour out much much faster and much much smoother as well. I believe the curls in the manifold give the gases the same characteristics (Imagine a water park flue ride). And as all the runner's initial curls curl in the same direction as well, so it should make for a nice entwinement of gases at the -1 section.
plus its a way of having your cake and eating it longer primaries give different results to shorter ones it moves the peak power up or down the rev range and also changes the power/torque characteristics, but also having the same length secondary as a standard manifold means you lose no torque by going for peak power.

so ordinarily win win 8-) 8-)

there is a lot of math and gas science involved in a really good manifold and a bad one even a good looking manifold can lose you power rather than create it, its a minefield  to be tiptoed through  with a calculator
