Very true, but that's what dibs/first come first serve is for. I'm not the kind of person that will cancel an agreed sale just because someone else came along and said they would've paid more.jozefsan wrote:parts all the time will have value what people want pay for them and not what they really worth
Another example: If someone was willing to pay a quid for a loaf of bread and they got it for the advertised 85p, then both parties are happy. The buyer saved a bit of money (theoretically) and the seller got their asking price.

Could always give it a try? If it goes tits up then it can always be deleted. It might not even get used that much! A lot of people seem to have a rough idea of the prices for stuff, but someone like me that doesn't sell/buy much could find it useful. I'm sure there are other people in a similar position to me.JayJay wrote:Perhaps a sub-forum, although as those seem to confuse people maybe even a section to itself, where people can submit valuation threads?
We could always try a valuation thread and just keep the first thread updated (lol) to see how it goes.

The easiest thing to do would be to have a separate forum topic purely for valuations. A new thread would be started for an item and depending on the item (size/condition/rarity/etc) a realistic pole list can be created for people to vote for what they think it's worth or what they'd be prepared to pay for it, without filling up the thread with drivel.
So for example the options for the Motegi badge could be...
£1-£10
£11-£20
£21-£30
£31-£40
£41-£50
As long as people take it seriously it'd work. If not many people are voting you could assume people aren't really interested in the item.
Of course there's going to end up being a huge number of threads if people use it, but then you could always use the advanced search facility to find what you may be considering selling to see if it's been brought up before.
Replies in the threads could be from people who have actually sold said item in the past where they can share the condition it was in and how much they got for it.

A different item per post would prove to be difficult if someone else came along looking for a recommended price for something though don't you think?
If it was an item per thread and the titles were fairly uniform then it would be pretty straight forward searching.
There could even be sub-forums for bodypart, engine parts, interior etc etc. Even 3rd, 4th and 5th gen, H22, H23, F20 etc.

That's how ebay works with bidding, but not when you're you selling something for what it's actually "worth". That was the whole point of Gordon's original thought. A lot of things come up for sale on here at a great price, but it depends on where people are with their build and priorities as to whether they'll go for it or not. Just because people don't buy something it doesn't mean to say they don't want it, just they don't want it yet, or need to put the money towards something else first. That said, it doesn't meant he seller should now let it go for peanuts, as I'm sure then everyone will then spot the ridiculous bargain and will buy it for the future. The seller has lost out, when they could have simply kept it listed until someone was actually ready for it and willing to pay what it's worth.
That whole paragraph sounds like I'm having a go... I'm not by the way

yes its true, but like with everything else, rare parts want lot of people but not many of them so seller will try make most of it.littlefeller wrote:the value on an item would depend on how many people wanted said itemif nobody wants it then it doesnt make a difference what price your offering it. should imagine jozefsan will comfirm this

maybe be cheekey and find out how many want it firstthen just watch them fight it out
im selling parts with help of original value and then give away for OEM 10-25%, aftermarket parts for 30-50% depend on age and condition. everything what been open from box going for 75-80%. if you take more additional discount is in place again

this is only ruff guide but so far everyone been happy with prices.
