I did have the technique of shifting without it grinding, but I had to pick my moment and there was no real way of shifting up quick without it grinding. If I was lazy or slow it would grind. I did a transmission oil change on Saturday and on the very first shift into 5th gear on Sunday... Perfect!
I'm not saying it's the answer to everyone's 5th gear issue, but as I said, it's sorted me out twice and I think JayJay said it sorted him out too. I used it the first time as I'd heard the wonderful stories and I just wanted to reiterate it.
This is the stuff (You'll need x2 US Quart)
And if you're quick, Opie Oil's currently have a promotion on... 15% Off Engine Oils @ Opie Oils - Limited Time Only
I've also started a pole to show whether Amsoil MTF has helped people's 5th gear grind issues in the past.
* If another brand of Transmission oil has rectified the problem for you please leave details in this thread and I will add it to this opening post.
