4th gen pic request

Post by Merlin » Fri Mar 21, 2014 1:56 pm

Can someone show me a close up pic of what is in the groove/trough/indentation at the lower part of the rear bumper? Also the size of the vertical gap would be great.

I dont have my car at the moment and I dont know when I am going to next catch up with a fellow Luder.

I don't have a close-up but I know there's nothing but flat plastic in that gap with a couple of tiny holes. I am thinking of cutting that whole piece out so there is a long thin letterbox style gap in the bumper.

I'll go measure the height of the groove now if you want?

Mine was pinted silver, so you can see the detail quite well.

Kinda hard to tell from this pic due to the angles etc, but the most inner piece of this indentation is 18mm tall

Thanks guys that is a great help.

bb1boy did you do that just now? Are you able to get another measurement for me? I need it from where it starts to turn in from the top and bottom of the groove/trough/indentation ie at its widest point. Thanks.

I want to know if a 5cm rain light will fit in there. Rather than resorting to cutting a hole in the main part of the bumper.

I did.
Ok, at the widest part and on the outside face of the bumper it's 60mm, but it quickly decreases to about 22mm then it steps in to the inside bit which is 18mm.
Depth from the back face of the groove to the front edge of the bumper is about 45mm.

So yes, it will fit but I don't think it'll look very smooth without a bit of cutting. Unless you don't mind it not sitting quite flush..

Nice one thank you. Just like a cat, if it fits it sits :P

A 5cm circle cutting tool will do the job nicely.
