What if once you've draped it over the outside of the window and cut to shape (plus 2" all round), you mark the centre points top and bottom on the tint backing and on the outside of the screen (non-permanant) to help with alignment? You could even gently mark a whole centre line top to bottom on both the tint and the screen...

No real need because the edges of the tint are generally hidden by the black painted edging on the glass. Placement is easy once the tint is on the glass - you just flatten it out (from middle outwards) and slide it around until you can see no daylight shining through the edges. If it doesn't slide easily then your glass/tint is not wet enough.

When you reverse-roll you either start from a corner or one whole side, so you only really notice the alignment is out once most of it is unravelled and then it can be hard to correct without creasing it, as it is usually more firmly stuck to the windscreen at this point, compared to the arms-outstretched method.

Alignment is not really a problem with the arms-outstretched method, if you can master it, you just align using the dark edges of the windscreen. I think it takes longer to master this method and more chance of contamination and creasing while carrying to the inside of the windscreen, let alone fitting it! bb1boy seems to know his stuff here though, I'm sure he's a patient bloke!

I wouldn't say I've 'mastered' it, but I can do ok. I do better when not trying to tint outside on a windy day though
I tried reverse rolling once but trashed my tint in the process so never bothered again! Probably a better way to do it though really.

Yeah I was thinking it could be reverse rolled from both sides, so you start in the middle.

Ahh, I see what you mean. It would require you to remove the film backing, cut in the middle then carefully reapply before rolling it from each side into the middle. Could work as another method but might work out more complicated!
