How far does the magnet protrude on that AP-02?
And how long is the thread and how far does the magnet protrude on the AP-08?
EDIT: This is pretty much the proportions of Prelude plugs...

Double Edit: Just realised I shouldn't post too early in the morning, I had the plugs the wrong way around. Short magnet for sump. Long magnet for transmission.

The magnets only protrude a couple of mm off the end of the plug, that's on all their plugs. The AP08 is probably about 14-15mm long. I'm not sure if there is any advantage in that if the plug is at the bottom of the gearbox, the metallic particles should fall down and the magnet in the Gold Plugs is strong enough that it should pull the particles in from a bit of a distance anyway.

So we come to the conclusion that the plug for the sump will be fine for the tranny??
