Gayno's a Quadcopter
So for the past few weeks I've been speccing up and building my first quadcopter, and today was the maiden flight!
Frame: Alien F450
Motors: Proflight 2830 1000kv
Props: 10 x 4.5
ESCs: Proflight 30A (SimonK firmware)
Controller: Naze32
Battery: 3S Turnigy Nano-tech 2200mAh
Radio transmitter: FrSky Taranis X9D
Radio receiver: FrSky X8R
Total build cost was around £350, but this includes the transmitter and battery charger which obviously don't need to be purchased for future models. Cost for just the quad including its batteries is around £180.
Future plans are to add GPS, camera for recording, and FPV equipment.

Yeah, the monitor was just for me so I could see his view, normally he just has the goggles. Even still they have head tracking, and the camera is on a gimbal, so it moves with your head so you can look around while flying!!
You can see it in the second video, when I fly over/under him, the camera tracks me, that's him tilting his head to follow!!

So what kind of range does yours/these have and what kind of weight can it lift?
That display on your controller, will that also be able to show what your camera sees?

Re: Gayno's Quadcopter
Not sure on total weight it can lift, but a GoPro (or similar) will be an easy lift for this. I'd expect I could add another 200-300g before running into any sort of problems.NafemanNathan wrote:I love the idea of thatGayno wrote:Yeah, the monitor was just for me so I could see his view, normally he just has the goggles. No, the display on the controller is monochrome only and will only display the settings of the transmitter and telemtry data from the on board receiver. You can get adapter plates which mount a screen to the top of the transmitter, but that's a bit clunky.

Re: Gayno's Quadcopter
As a demonstration of GPS hold on these, watch the second video at 0:55 - you see my mate turn on the GPS hold on his copter, then walk with me to the back of his car leaving it to just hover there!!
