Absolutely fantastic and looks ace fun. However, how long before the nanny state comes in and spoils everyone's fun due to 'privacy violations', 'could be used by crims/terrorists, 'need a licence' etc, etc, etc...

Not wishing to spoil any ones fun but one of these has already got in the way of a 747 at 350 feet at Heathrow when on final approach.Imagine a collision with a single engine light aircraft. It as stated could be used by terrorists and I wonder how long before they start invading personal privacy and getting blasted out of the sky by irate people with shotguns. I also have a concern that Merc might share about one of these toys getting tangled in a canopy.

Sorry Adam but the sooner these things are severely regulated or banned the better and if one causes an accident which causes death or injury the operator should be jailed.

I would like to add that I am sure you would fly yours responsibly but you have to legislate for the idiots out there.

These things are here to stay and no mistske I'm afraid paul. It wont be long before Amazon has its way and is doing instant deliveries. post, shopping from tesco, all of it will come to your door via one of these in the next 20 years.

To be honest the only difference between one of these and an RC helecopter is what? There is none. But for general skill level needed to keep it in the air they are the same thing. The difference now is that anyone can send one up and probably get it back down again. Terrorists etc will certainly have their time with it but then so will regulation. I cant see any difference, than public interest, from a plane or any flying RC model. The same could/should be said of 6foot wide F16's with full vectoring but no one raises an eyebrow when its screaming past at 60mph and no one has flown one of those into a football stadium full of an/fo yet.

These are going to be like starlings come autumn the next few years. I bet you. You have valid concerns but they are not popular and wont be listened to on a wider audience... because of convinience. The police will have them as city monitoring stations. Street corners will have them with solar panels on the roof. They will be the same a CCTV cameras but can go closer to the action. A little landing pad on a pole with two of these monitoring the street. Maybe even have a built in tazer and pnumatic sedative injector for real problem types. The list of things to use a stable flying platform are endless and its the way its going for the next generation or so.

Add to that quantum computing and AI and you have the first generation of actually helpful/useful robots.

They see where they are going, avoid obstructions and deviver. We can already drive a car through a desert with AI so this is the next step.

That was going to be my point. When there are people out there that can cut grass with an inverted RC helicopter, it doesn't really matter how easy it is to fly one of these things. If terrorists were going to use an RC aircraft for evil then it would have happened already.

The privacy act is a potential issue though. If these things become seriously affordable and end up in Christmas stocking then you know there are going to be a number of these things caught outside first floor windows with camera phones strapped to them.

... I guess that's what curtains were invented for though
