Big oil leak, stinks of oil. Oil cooler O-ring?

My 5th gen stinks of hot oil when idling plus when I walked away from the car I could see the trail of oil that it had left on the road. Does this sound like the oil cooler O-ring?

Yeah that fits what I experienced with mine, I assume the level isn't dropping rapidly?

Going by smell alone I think you'll struggle to diagnose it

I don't know about rapidly, it goes though oil, but I don't drive it every day and just fill it up when needed.

The car has been smelling of oil for a while now. I did have a leak at the distributor that was pissing oil down the side of my engine. Steve changed that seal for me. The oil smell still persisted until last night where it smelt even worse. Then I saw all the drips of oil on the ground, I could see exactly where I had driven down the road.

Its that hot oil smell, as if it is falling on to the exhaust.

I assume little or no smell if you're driving?

Yeah you can only smell it when the car is stationary and idling.

Cool. I do have a spare oil cooler O-ring (if I can find it

). Yes Steve's ramps are in. Not sure if they are bolted to the floor yet.
