I've had it with other cars in the past. What generally causes this?
Also, my 5th gen, when starting up from cold. If I was to blip the throttle the revs actually decrease from idle and it can cut out completely. If I slowly dip the throttle from cold start the revs increase no problem. When I blip the throttle it's almost like the engine is suffercating... Either not enough air or fuel is getting through. This could be due to my map, but still, it's strange.
My main concern is the dying when halting though. As said it doesn't matter what temp the car is at, although generally it happens after about 5 miles of driving and possibly without stopping in between
