Hi Guys,
Car - 91 J reg 3G Prelude 2.0i 4ws Automatic -
Anyone know what this noise is, First I was getting it when the car is started first time and driven off, first few times only ever heard it once then it went.
Now it makes noise like every 10 seconds, on idle there is no noise. I'm guessing its the fuel pump? Power steering pump, but power steering feels ok and its not like it makes noise when I'm turning or anything?
Any Ideas, I've made a vid, noise can be heard at :-
14-20
49-55
1.09 -1.14
1.30-1.34

3G Prelude - Help noise
Hmmm... it sounds to me as though its coming from the back.....??prelude91 wrote:Sounds like the ABS pump to me. When mime went, it was like a high pitched turbine sound and very 'clackety'
What is the solution if it is alb pump? How did you fix yours? Could it possibly just be an alb sensor rather then a bad pump?

Hard to tell from that video with all the other noises, but I recon prelude91 could be right. It does sound like the ALB pump is having an epi.
The ALB ECU should be at the fron tof the centre console I think. If it's like the Accords of the same generation it will have it's own cel light and can give you the code.
Not sure if the codes are on here...

tt85, when you saying 'coming from the back' do you mean rear of the engine bay, or rear of the car? If it's the abs pump, the noise will be coming from the front of the engine bay, below the battery box, it's the small unit with brake hoses attached and a small bleed nipple on top. You should have a spare on one of your breakers. When mine went, brake fluid started peeing out of the bottom of the unit.
