Cold Air Feed

I am going to be getting a Type S Intake to replace the standard airbox on my BB1, I want to remove the resonator and add a cold air feed and I have a few questions.

1. What piping should I buy, there are plenty of options on Ebay, what have other people used? I don't have anything lying around that can be used so I am going to have to buy something. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from= ... d&_sacat=0

2. Is there any risk of the engine inhaling water when driving in wet conditions? Obviously I would never drive through and big puddles but what about spray in wet conditions? Should I just leave the resonator in place and not bother with the cold air feed?

3. Is the panel filter in the type s the same size and shape as all the other panel filters?

I didnt bother with a cold air feed when i fitted my Type S intake - i had already removed the resonator so just left it drawing in air from the wheel well - there really is no need for a cold air intake on a road car unless you putting out big power

Ive never had a problem with this set up and i have driven in some pretty bad wet weather

The panel filter is the same as the normal prelude filter - so no difference.

Firstly, yes... All panel filters are the same throughout the 4th gen/5th gen range.

You don't really need to create a ram-air intake, so maybe just a more direct air feed to below the filter box would be a benefit. I need to do something with mine as I have no splash guard underneath and so my filter gets pretty crappy, especially in wet weather. So my intention is to put a feed in, but it will simply aim the air at the filter mouth... Not be hooked up to it. This should then remove any chance of the intake drawing in water if ever I did happen upon a larger mass of water at any point.

As above - 4th gen, Type-S air box, no resonator, no splash guard, no problem ..and I live in Cornwall.

Thanks guys. Is it worth swapping the paper filter for a K&N while I am at it, does it actually make any difference?

Sorry to jump on atr84 thread here what I like to no is why remove the resonator what's the difference an is it easy to get to

Horses for courses - it is easy to get to, it's all inside the front wing held in by a few bolts. Keeping it gives slightly better lower end torque, removing it gives slightly better response up the rev range.. and an awesome sound.

My cold air feed comes front front grill next to the fog light and bends round behind the fog light and into the wheel well.

I did this so I can ram more air into the bumper section because race car because supercharged.

Can honestly say that you'll notice no difference.
