Logic defying non-starting - fixed!
Logic defying non-starting - fixed!
Here's a thing. My Lude sometimes just doesn't start. 9/10 times its a 1-sec turn of the key and she fires up.
But occasionally, like today for example when I was in the supermarket car park, it just wouldn't start. It fires, I let go the key, then it stops. Spinning the starter for longer has no effect.
I'm using the key or the remote start button I've fitted, same thing happens either way. Today I tried for about 10 mins, waiting maybe 30 secs or a minute between each attempt, before it started and drove fine. It happened before I fitted the recent immobiliser too, so I don't think thats to blame.
Engine was hot, I'd just driven 10 miles. Other times when this has happened it's also been hot - it's never doe it when cold, but then again it starts most times when hot too, so I'm not sure thats significant.
Any ideas please?

did you hear the fuel pump prime after turning the key 3/4?
do any lights come on the dash?
is there any noise at all from the engine when you try and turn it over?
is it still doing the "It fires, I let go the key, then it stops"? as I had this recently and it was the ignition switch, see here;

Yea, the symptoms are exactly as ðescribed above. Ign lights come on, engine turns over, one cough then stops.
It's not the ignition switch, as i have a remote start switch too, and it does the same thing whether I use the key or the button.
Maybe I'll take the relay apart again and check it over, but it would be handy to get a replacement.
