bb1boy wrote:so if have understood everyone properly and I undo the very bottom fork bolt (leaving the fork on the end of the shock) the LCA should drop down? And with brake line bolts and the top bolts under the bonnet removed I should be able to pull the shock and spring unit out? ..on the front's, that is.

The rears sound easy enough..
No not quite.

There is a 14mm bolt at the top of the fork, where it meets the strut. Takes this bolt out and the fork will seperate from the strut assembly.

Once seperated, remove the 17mm bolt that joins the fork to the LCA, then remove the fork out of the way.

Then remove the 3 top mount nuts and remove the strut from the car.

There is very little play in the LCA, so it won't just "fall" out of the way, you will need to add pressure to it. If you remove the fork however, this is a negligible piece of info!

Some side stepping of this thread going on, but Ste and Adam's descriptions are pretty good. They neglect to include the paragraph that adds in the TRUTH that it will not go as swimingly as you read, but you WILL do it!
Some swearing, cut and bruised hands later and you'll be patting yourself on the back. :D

I hate to do it but ill just point out that the front passanger side and rar drivers side (the sides we did my way) were uber faster than the other two  :scaredtoss: or they would have been if it werent for those balljoints (still think that was an absolute touch of class on your part lol)
Meh! Faster? Maybe? Only because my skivvy wasn't working hard enough the first half! :P
I agree it's easier to jack the whole front or rear up instead of a corner and fighting against pushing the suspension down. But in all fairness, between having a cuppa, some biccies, faffing around with her lose CV boot and scratching my head deciding what the hell parts of my Energy Suspension kit can go on her shocks, I think it was fairly even.

Was weird, removing them off my car was a hell of a lot easier. That lude is jinxed!

A note to others, installing coilovers in reverse should be alot easier as they are generally shorter, especially with the extra drop you will no doubt add to the car.

You're not far wrong there.

I've worked on it 3 times, and all 3 times it's had to have a 2nd or 3rd go to sort it out!!

Personally, I don't think it is a Prelude, as nothing from a Prelude ever seems to fit!!
