Lightweight 5th Gen panels

Post by jasonxr2racer » Tue Aug 25, 2015 8:40 pm

I'm looking at making my racecar a bit lighter for next year

Is there anywhere that does lightweight bonnets, bootlids etc or does anyone have any for sale?

Failing that I'll just have to remove inner skin of bootlid along with parcel shelf etc.

I'm fitting a lowline GRP WTCC boot spoiler next year

Cheers

There's a company called fibreworx who do carbon and fibreglass panels. They need the original panels to make a mold from and then they can do them for you.

will be bloody expensive though carbon bonnet is the lightest thing you can get fibreglass ones are heavier i have both so i know you can get carbon bootlids from the states and fibreglass front wings and you can always drill holes in stuff to lighten the car have you read rich's 4g race car thread

Slight side step... Will you be reinforcing again where the wing mounts?

Removing the big wing in favour of a WTCC spec low level wing

I've already gutted the bonnet so its virtually a skin.

Boot lid will also be gutted to virtually a skin if i cant get a lightweight one at a reasonable price

Then I can also cut out the parcel shelf

I meant if you strip the boot lid of all of its structure it then won't be strong enough to mount a wing to, so would you be reinforcing it again?
