Paint codes teaser...

Hey all,

Noticed that when i was looking at the various paint codes used for our cars, they started with a letter then numbers etc.

For example NH-552 Sebring Silver & B-83M Nordic Mist.

Seems to be two types of codes, NH's & B's.

Any ideas on what the letters mean?

Or is it stupidly obvious?

I'm gonna assume the P is for pearl...

It's just quite simply the paint codes. There's no logic to it really, it's for computer reference, which is why they all have names attached to them too, such as Sebring Silver and Milano Red, so people can talk about colours in normal terminology.

Now I've actually looked at a list of Honda paint codes it's fairly obvious ...

B = Blues
BG = Blue/Greens
G = Greens
GY = Green/Yellows
NH = Blacks/Greys/Whites/Silvers
P = Purples
PB = Blues
R = Reds
RP = Purple/Pinks
Y = Yellows
YR = Golds/Browns/Oranges

Suffixes (So after the paint code) are...

A = ???
C = Candy
F = Flake
L = Vinyl Seats
M = Metallic
P = Pearl-Effect
R = ???
S = Special
U = Undercoat required
Z = ???

Yep Nafeman got it in one. Some paint code rep.

Not the last letters of the new colours Like A B or C its the variation of that colour from factory.
A usually being the best variation. C being a crap variation and admitted by Honda. Seriously.

There is a reason why there is Alabaster Silver NH700M-A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P. Seriously all here on my paint program. Also Alabastard Silver is one of the worst silvers ever to paint.
