The guys over at hond-r have showed interest in this again and although there's not much chance of getting stands next to each other it would be cool if we could all share the same hotel. They have suggested the same one as last year as it was very nice.

We always go Dover-Dunkirk.
The boats are generally better and cheaper than Calais; the half-hour longer on the ferry brings you more or less half an hour closer to your destination - and the break is useful for those coming a fair distance.

The tunnel is usually significantly more expensive, although I guess this can be saved by booking ages in advance.

As to lowered cars: if you say so when booking (or at the dock if pressed), they'll put you in a place with a gentler slope. I can't get over the ramps to the upper deck without the car scraping, for example, and often get put with the trucks.

I don't even mind the car being outside if it means ours is the third vehicle off:-

That would be nice, but as you're coming with us it doesn't really matter ;)

Mine may well come along.

Currently the return cost for the Dover-Dunkirk crossing is around £90 at sensible hours, so not all that different to be fair. Dunkirk may be closer to Belgium, but at 2 hours (plus extra for undocking and docking of the boat) compared to the 35 mins of the tunnel, you will be over an hour ahead by using the tunnel. Plus its 25 mins less driving this side of the channel as well!!
