I read that while she gets with them she is like a board

Interesting enough the speed trap data doesn't show the decline in my engine over the day. I think I was offsetting it by driving harder. VBOX data shows I was braking later and achieving a higher apex speed.

Mikey there is nothing for you to feel bad about. 100% not your fault. I bought the engine with my eyes wide open. And it could be anything that caused it to fail. These things happen and I am cool with it.

I am thinking it must be some combination of big end bearings, oil pump and crank seal to give the symptoms I experienced. Symptoms were (in order of their occurrence) low oil pressure, high oil temp, slipping clutch, loss of power, stalling when clutch was depressed while driving, loss of oil, knocking at 3.5k rpm, heavy knocking and eventual death.

Why keep driving on lower oil pressure you ask? I still had oil pressure, just not as high as it once was. It was still over 10 psi at idle (the minim required by a stock H22). Plus it was competition day so I could just stop or I would deffo not have scored points.

At the moment I am looking for a new engine. However if I cant find one by the end of the week the H22a8 from my road car will be used. A right pain in the hoop to have to remove both engines from my cars but it is a known good engine that I have maintained. Also it means that the ~270bhp engine I removed from the 4th gen can go into my 5th gen, something that I have been thinking about for a while

Thankfully new engine has been sourced. I have been speaking with Farlow most of the day and he is going to be selling me his H22a8 which I will be collecting from him this weekend. So if all goes to plan the car will be up and running very soon!
