Type S Intake
I noticed the other day that the intake on my type s has a dent on it near where it gets close to the back of the battery. I assume this is not normal.
Will this be affecting performance, I assume yes. Are the AEM V2 and K&N Typhoon long arm good alternatives to the Type S intake?

Can you not take the intake off & appart then push the dent back out being it's plastic? i'd be keen to keep the type S intake as it's one of the best for a lude. your two alternatives are very good though, plus the CDA intakes

Do the sections of the Type S intake come apart? If so I might be able to get to it in order to push it out. If not I don't think I will be able to get to it........

The sections do come apart. i doubt the dent is affecting performance at all , so i wouldnt worry about it at all (feel free to push it back out though if possible).
You can always loosen the battery stay and move the battery as much as possible away from the intake and then re clamp it.

Can you not see the link in the first post with the pic? I was going to upload to photobucket but they seem to have locked my account. Any other free accounts I could use?

You will not notice any difference in performance taking that dent out, although I would still take it out. Unclip the top of the filter housing one end and undo the jubilee band fastener on the other end. Remove the whole piece and try warming the dented part of the plastic up slightly (hair dryer ? Really hot water? ) while pushing the dent out from the inside, either with your hand if you can or anything wide enough to get a decent purchase on the dent and to avoid puncturing the plastic.
I would keep hold of the typeS intake as it is one of the best due to its "dual chamber". Even so the aem v2 is considered just as good.

That dent will be easy to get to. The neck of the air box lid connects right there (behind the battery). Release the 4 clips of the air box lid and simply pull it out of the pipe part. Then you'll see the inside of the dent

Oops I didn't see that.
That dent is standard and yes I'm being serious, mine had it when I have type s intake.
