Import Size Plate

Post by jjmartin349571 » Wed May 23, 2012 10:39 pm

I have one in the post, as I want the front of my car to look right :) however, is there meant to be an oem bracket that holds it like at the rear? Mine just has a uk size plate screwed straight on, I don't mind drilling the new one and screwing it in but if there's supposed to be a bracket there I'd rather try to obtain and use that.

Quite tempted to get a bracket and mount it Evo style

Yes there is bud, I'll find you a pic.

EDIT: JDM (import) size...

UKDM size...

The chances are though that your new plate will over hang like mine did...

So when I bought a new one I trimmed it down...

Looks much better in my opinion...

Another item on the parts list  what would you call it? I've searched around for prelude plate brackets etc. online but no joy :|

Looks excellent trimmed to size mate 8-)

Going to have to stick up a wanted thread for one of those brackets methinks.

Slightly off topic, but whilst trawling eBay, one thing I thought was completely overlooked was the metal stamped plates. You can get them in uk size and they're really popular on the VW scene, but nobody does an import size stamped plate. I think it'd look awesome though! Need to make it my mission to obtain one somehow

Try Craigsplates. They don't have import sizes listed for metal, but worth giving them a phonecall as they're very helpful..

Yeah I was thinking it might be worth chasing a place like that up, I'm reckoning it shouldn't be too hard to make one up in a different size, provided the press isn't exactly the size of a UK plate or something :? Cheers for the link mate :)

That'll be what determines it basically, that and the letter size. If they don't do them JDM size, they may know of another company that does.
