Post by lewd lude lover » Wed May 30, 2012 10:44 am

so iv been looking the last two days. my big bunch of keys has gone walk about. Now I am not admitting defeat but just in case....... how much trouble would it be to get hold of a SH set of keys, door locks and IG barrel and fit them?

just out of interest :? :oops:

Right. Where were you when you last had them?...

;-)

Does it need to be an SH set? What's the difference between an SH set and a regular UKDM 5th gen set?

SH = Second Hand ;)

I had them sunday evening because I locked the lude up. I then attached the lude keys to the big bunch and went out with the missis to drive the national meet route, in her car so i didnt need the keys. thats the last clear memory i have. attaching all the keys together.

like i say, im not giving up but what is involved with changing the IG barrel?

I've removed a number of ignition barrels and lock setsand they've all been very simple, but I've never replaced them on a lude, let alone a 5th gen, so I won't advise :roll: Have you checked the manual?...

I'm also interested in this, the battery in my fob has gone (the contacts on the key that charge it are broke'd :( ) so I can't use my remote locking, even though it's only from like a foot away. I can't remove the cover on the key to replace the battery (the cover kept falling off so I super glued it, thinking that as it charges itself I won't need to replace it :roll: )

So as LLL says, what is needed? I assume you'd need new door locks, a new ignition barrel, and a boot lock along with the keys? Is it possible to just get a new key from Honda (as long as you have a spare key to have it cut from)?

Does the Type-S have an immobiliser?

That far?! Mine has to be within 50mm! I can reach the door handle with the same hand from the furthest distance away! :lol:

So you'd basically need to get on to the breakers for a full set then. I wouldn't be surprised if it'd cost you anywhere up to £100. Shame being an import the keys aren't kept on file to simply order a new one. (At least that's what I've heard anyway).
