Not quite! I pondered doing this when I had my MR2 as I had to swap engine, but didn't go through with it.littlefeller wrote:if you want v6 then buy an mr2, the 3l v6 camry motor drops straight in, although you will still have less power than the 2.2vtec
There are wiring changes and you need to get a custom engine mount made up, but in comparison to most other swaps it is pretty straight forward. A chap on mr2oc drove his into his garage on a Saturday morning a 2 litre and drove it out Sunday night a v6!

I remember seeing an MR2 with a Camry engine conversion done, then a huge turbo slapped on for good measureGayno wrote:Not quite! The one I saw had a magazine feature a few years ago, it was a road legal drag car and was 550bhp or something daft like that.

The gearboxes won't make the conversion easier, the turbo had bigger splines for the bigger driveshafts to cope with the power, internals IIRC were identical.littlefeller wrote:i think its easyer if you have the mr2 turbo gearbox, yeh there is wiring to do, but would you not just buy the turbo mr2 and save yourself the hassle
Thing is, turbo vs v6 power delivery is very different. Yes buying a turbo was the easy and cheap way to go, but the V6 pulled very well, and sounded awesome!

Not seen a turbo one, although the TRD supercharger was another common add on to the V6.rob quilter wrote:I remember seeing an MR2 with a Camry engine conversion done, then a huge turbo slapped on for good measureGayno wrote:Not quite!
