Front near side wing removal

Post by Dobbs » Sat Oct 13, 2012 1:27 pm

Hey guys,

Quick question - how 'easy' is it to remove the front passenger side wing? It looks like it might just unbolt and therefore be easy to replace, but before I go and order one, I thought it best to check with the experts (i.e. you guys)?

On the way into work at 7am Mon morning when I was forced to take evasive action to avoid a Spanish holiday maker (completely lost) on his way back to the airport. Unfortunately my evasive action lead to my beloved Lude colliding with a road sign on a roundabout (I'd only had her 6 days - my 3rd Lude, BTW). Completely missed the hire car and although they admitted responsibility it's going to be cheaper for me to do the repairs rather than pay the £600 excess (I kid ye not) and she would probably be written off anyway

Gutted!

Dobbs.

Yeah, 2 in the door jam, 1 in the side skirt (you can flex the skirt down just enough, but keep the pressure on as you turn), 3 along the top under the bonnet, and either one or two under the side of the front bumper. Also there are 2 spigots on the headlight that point directly backwards, these locate in the front of the wing and help tie the two together. Be careful as the spigots can be quite brittle. Also you'll need to detach the arch liner, but you can easily see these... Unless they're caked in mud (In which case clean it ;-) ).

Put some blue decorators tape around all the edges 1st on the doors and wings, bonnet etc. Its will save you from scratches.

Hi folks,

I did look in the service manual but could not see anything under body relating to front wing removal - did I miss it? What page is it on??

I've got a v.good condition wing on it's way from an EBay seller - £30 + P & P - bargain! :D
