I have spent my whole life not really liking shorts, sticking to pints and plenty of them.

As we went to the Bushmills Brewery earlier in the year, I thought it was rude not to buy a bottle and try to like it, so i came home with some Blackbush. Still struggling, i found most of it was being used to make Bushmills sauce to go on top of a steak or pan fried chicken... :-P

Then i went to a BBQ with my mate and later in the evening we had a bottle of Teachers between us with coke. It was a bit rough, but i enjoyed it none the less. I'd tried the Bushmills neat, cold, warm, with a drop of water etc, and couldn't get on with it as much as i tried, but had not tried coke. So the next day i tried the Blackbush with coke, beautiful.

The missus has moaned at me as at £20 a bottle it doesn't last long. I bought some Jim Bean the other day as it was only £12, but it wasn't as nice as the Blackbush :|

I think i may be making up for lost time.

Shiny, have a link to a website that may change your life: http://www.masterofmalt.com/

Can I recommend anything from the Speyside region if you're just starting to dig into Whisky. Try it neat, then try it with a single drip of water in it. Ice is pretty much a nono. Coke, well, not for me - but whatever helps :D

Also, decent dark chocolate + whisky is awesome!

I tried the Bushmills neat, drop of water, room temperature etc, but i just couldn't quite get on with it no matter how much i tried. I was rather ill at around 15 on a cocktail of shorts (yeah thought i could handle it) and never really touched shorts since.

I really like it with coke though, although i appreciate it may be sacrilege to some. A bit like ponces that stick ice cubes in cider and think it is cool, when all it does it suppress the flavours.

What Whiskey would you recommend i try at the cheaper end of the scale. Don't take offence, but from those i have tried in the past, i have always found the Irish with an "e" Whiskeys smoother and more palatable than the Scotich Whisky i have tried. I understand that American Whiskey is similar in taste to the Irish, although the Jim Bean wasn't a patch on the Blackbush!
