Blimey! Could you maybe remove the scoop and blend in some new carbon?Rich wrote:Carbon Fibre bonnet (with scoop - not my favourite but couldn't resist for £29) - bargain of the century I reckon

Re: Rich's BB4 - "Tulip"
I was watching it when it was £125 on buy it now or make offer, then he dropped it to £99 so I was considering making a cheeky £70 offer. Then it was listed on auction as well with a £25 start, I put in a £50 bid & got it for £29
Was well chuffed
It was just 10 miles away from me but I still had to think about how I was getting it home. I was about to hire a van from B&Q when my bro offered to go in his Renault Scenic to pick it up. I didn't think about where it was going when I got it home though - my shed's already full of wheels & other car parts. Managed to squeeze it in but I will have to sort it out properly to store my OEM bonnet otherwise it'll probably get scratched.

Update
I've bought some more parts to add to my pile (good job my wife has put an embargo on me ordering car parts
): APEX lowered suspension (cheers @chrismc), cam seals, throttle position sensor, cheap push button start kit and three auto tensioners (yes THREE - I bought a brand new one from Honda for £121+ forgetting that I already had some used but fairly new ones coming in the post
- so 2 of these will be going up for sale).
Anyway, I might start actually fitting some of these parts now... I've bought a new car to use as the daily driver - allowing me to work on the Lude!
I must say I appreciate the Lude a lot more now after driving a 1 litre Toyota Aygo for the last couple of weeks. That was kind of the plan though... use the other car for work, the Lude for fun.
Maybe I will start logging some actual progress on here soon!
The lude is booked in for MOT next Saturday (
); if all goes well with that, I will start working through my list of repairs and mods.
First on my list is to change the cambelt, balance shaft belt, water pump, cam seals, auto tensioner and rollers, as well as fit my M2B4 LSD gearbox and my lowered suspension.
I was meant to get the cambelt etc. done a few weeks back but thought it best to wait until after the MOT before spending any major money on it, especially since I never really trusted the last MOT that was done just before I bought the car...
Once it has a clean bill of health I will be on a mission!

Re: Rich's BB4
Put car in for MOT this morning. It failed as I expected, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought.
It only failed on a few minor things: snapped front drop link, split steering rack gaiter and parking brakes recording little or no effort (as usual).
Over the moon with that really. Not bad at all.
Getting it all sorted next Saturday as well as getting it lowered. Can't wait

Sure is a lovely colour.
Nice one on the MOT too, as by far the biggest issue there is the handbrake, as it'll most probably be the rear callipers. I've just bitten the bullet and put a new one on (did the other side last year) and the difference is huge, and I like to think I keep on top of sticky brakes etc
