4g short shifter?

Post by chrismc » Thu Nov 15, 2012 1:04 pm

Im after some advice on my options for our 4g track car.

The OEM ashtray & cigarette lighter have been removed so i have no potential issues with cables fouling etc

Also have a skunk2 gearknob to add a bit of weight/inertia to the throw.

What do people recommend? Would an adapter work ok or do I need to fit a true short shift? I dont want to spend a fortune if I'm honest, but not sure if a cheap adapter is going to be any good.....

Has anyone got any recommendations? :)

Modify a standard one! If you can weld its not too hard!

For a fiver I'll deliver a short sifter adapter if you want to see what one is like? Unused by with no packaging, same as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-PRELUDE ... 4abd4afe8e

I bought it but during fitting found out that I had an uber rare short shifter in place already  .

LUDE-STU on PUK was fabbing them for a while, not sure anyone does anymore. If you or someone you know have the welding skills, deffo go down that route. The adapters feel horrible and clicky.

I had a short shifter for a while. It wasn't an adapter. I think it was a modified OEM one.
It was bloody horrible!! The gear changes felt 'notchy'.

I changed back to my normal stick ASAP. Smooth as silk! :P
I think it's a waste of time modification. I don't care that it takes me 0.001 seconds longer to change gear.

Which one did you have Pushki?

I bought it from a member of PUK a few years ago, before LUDE-STU started making them.
It had a Japanese sticker on it. I don't know the make.

IMO, you'd be better off taking your original shifter out and re-greasing it all. Lovely!!! :D
