I'd be a little worried about heat displacement and warping if you machined an OEM flywheel :?

Might be able to get away with pocketing it out a bit around the outer rim, but I wouldn't be inclined to take anything away from the middle to centre portion.

... IMO ;-)

seems a fairly common thing on other cars! not sure if you mean dissipation nafeman, i wouldn't have thought it would have had any affect as the surface area would be the same, if not increased! i thunk that if a fidanza doesnt warp a fair bit could be taken off the oem one before risking warping!

I'm meaning this kind of thing...

Not saying these flywheels had been modified (Top one's an OEM and the bottom's a chromoly), but both had been raced with. Just thinking the OEM flywheel is the thickness it is for a reason. Start messing with that and I wouldn't be surprised if something like those pictures occurs put it that way :?

its that thicknes to allow for easy driving characteristics by the majority of owners not everyone could handle a light flywheel

True. But then these kind of components are always subject to scrutineering dynamic stress and load testing, and as soon as you start removing meat from it all that goes out the window.

I'm sure I'm just being over cautious though.

Won't be a case with a 4th gen JDM Prelude though ;-)
