Legal headlight projection height?

Post by NafemanNathan » Sat Dec 22, 2012 10:42 am

Just wondering, what's the legal maximum/minimum height for dipped beam... "projection"?

Is it parallel, or is it a certain height at a certain distance?

It cant be higher than the height of the centre of the source ie the bulb. Measure the floor to centre of the headlight where the light is and mark it on the wall. Car must be 7 meters away.

Cheers buddy :)

One hell of a long set of instructions on that other guy's part for what is otherwise a fairly straight forward and logical task though

I though beam angle had to be a certain percentage which is measured at MOT.

Something like 1.6% if the headlight is below a certain height, or 3% if it's above.

I was almost right, it's 1.3% if below 850mm, or 2% if above.
