It was only today that I realised just how bad it's gotten

Sitting in the lab, had to go find out some definitions for potential conditions that pregnant dogs could get, Captain Nerd here carries Latin and Greek dictionaries around with him that's how you do a task that you're given 30 minutes to do in the space of about 5.

personally i would strip the wire shield and solder the wires from the switch and relay then cover in heat shrink or insulation tape.

here is a wire diagram i drew up for the 4th gen when i wired the switch in the cigarette lighter hole. the wires for the 5th should be the same.

I thought that too but when you look at it you're only adding in 5 wires, a switch and a relay. The relay seems to be replacing your ignition switch in creating a temporary join between the thick white and the black when triggered. Then the push button starter is just used to trigger the relay, and is wired into the ciggy lighter in order to only be live with the ignition

I've bought 2

One for the drift car and a spare. Drift car is already on push button start, it only has ignition on/off so avoids all this key in position 2 stuff but the button is just a plain one can fit a funky one now
