(PUK) The Flood

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 2:38 pm

So I had a free evening this evening, so thought I'd do a little to the lude. I feel I've been neglecting her a little too much recently... And I think she's been feeling the same... I think she's been crying inside... Literally... :( ...

Image

Image

I've obviously removed something from doing my cable tuck that I shouldn't have (I'm mid way) So it looked like I was going to have to strip out my interior a little ahead of schedule

My intentions tonight were to remove the front seats anyway, so as I could lie upside-down in the foot wells to re-route my electrics, so I remove those...

Image

Image

Image

Then I proceeded to scoop to water out. You can see just how deep it was  ...

Image

Then I removed the passenger half of the carpet. The driver's side hadn't been effected and I figured it'd be more comfortable to lie on carpet than bare profiled metal.

It wasn't all bad though. Cha Ching!!! :D ...

Image

Then out came the rags and after a good wipe down, clean as a whistle ;-) ... And more importantly... No rust! ;-)

Image

Image

Image

Then after my potato and leek soup I proceeded to dry and re-label the loom that ha been sat in the foot well. Fortunately it wasn't that bad at all really. Only a few of the plugs had been semi-submerged and none look to be damage. Feww!

Now I really should get on and finish this tuck!... Once I've had a look for the leak in daylight of course ;-)

(PUK) Flood Sorted. New Neuspeed Front Strut Brace

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 2:40 pm

Well I'm a doofus! The problem was staring me right in the face! ](*,)

This picture shows how it looked under the skuttle panel. Rain water would simply run down the wind-screen, under the skuttle panel and into the hole  It's not that obvious looking at this picture, but from the side, the over hang hangs about halfway over the hole 8-[

Image

So, I cleaned up the "drain" and simply refitted it ;-) ...

Image

What an idiot!

Anyway, once I'd finished soaking up todays downfall, I positioned a few bits and bobs to give me an idea of how she's gonna look when I'm done...

Look at my new shiny brace! :D Cheers Frank, looks great! Think I will go for black though...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Not sure about the blue against the red, but hey, I can always wrap the induction in black heat wrap ;-)

My new top Samco hose isn't going to fit either. I thought I was going to be able to cut it to fit, but unfortunately it'll end up too short, so I'm going to have to look for an alternative. I think just a straight length should do it (a black one ;-) ), unless anyone else who's done a half rad conversion knows of another make/model hose that'll fit???...

Anyone what a top Samco hose in A1 condition? ;-)

(PUK) New Sabelt GT1 Bucket Seat. Engine Harness Stripped

Post by NafemanNathan » Tue Feb 07, 2012 2:43 pm

Latest ebay steal for Nathan...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Never been fitted. £57!!! :D

Now just got to modify the standard mounts to fit...

Image

Should just need to grind off all the top brackets to leave me with a flat surface (much like the lower one in the pic minus the studs), then either drill holes to suit the underside of the seat. Or, with the more than likely scenario of the seat centres being different to the rail centres, I'll simply attach some horizontal plates in between the rails to secure the seat to.

I also started stripping the engine loom of all the gammy and/or brittle electrical tape the other day...

Before...

Image

After...

Image

It doesn't look much different to the before picture, but with all the tape removed and with the remains being split conduit (which is just holding it all together at the minute) I'll easily be able to connect the connections then run the cables where and how I want, taking up any slack, removing the cables I no longer need, in order to customize my own loom which should end up looking a lot tidier than the original ;-) I'm even toying with the idea of using a transparent conduit (if there is such a thing) in order to show off all those pretty colours :) And there's a lot of them to!

Took me 2 hours to remove this lot!...

Image

Oh, and where a standard Prelude upper rad hose wouldn't fit my half rad conversion...

Image

... A simple 32mm 45 degree 150mm legged hose did :) ...

Me to! i actually have heard that modifying the rocker cover to run a few more breathers helps power!! even more on boosted ludes, and it wasnt 1-2 bhp more like 10-15, but that was on a 500bhp+ car
ubersonic wrote:Well basically IIRC the air feed from the intake causes positive pressure which makes the nasty gasses go away faster, if you disconnect it and add one of those mini filter things it removes that positive pressure and the gases hang around longer. Ill try and find a link to the info cos my memory aint exactly perfect ^^
