Oh wow, how good is that for £100!

Is it now a case of buy as many £100 motors, stick em in your garden to help with the 'view' for your planning application to the neighbour?

Great little spec so far, trumps on the engine. Will be a nice little project (amongst a few!)

So! The story so far. When I went to view the car on Saturday she was sporting a set of Toyota alloys, which although didn't look too out of place on the car, weren't for me...

So I let the guy keep the wheels knowing my Aerodeck's original steelies were exactly the same OEM size, which in turn helped me bump the guy down in price. Also besides the fact the guy couldn't get the car to start when I was there I also used the various corroded areas of the car to bring it down even further. They were...

Driver's side rear sill...

Bottom of the rear Window (Driver's side)...

Top of the Rear Window (Driver's side)...

A very small speck in the centre of the boot...

And on the passenger side, the only damage is a small amount of rust on the rear of the sill...

And a small dent on the side skirt...

Other than that, she's all straight and true. I've also just bought a second hand door in the right colour and a replacement seal to go around the door shut as the rust on the door has worn a hole in the current one. The car has also taken the Aerodeck's placement for getting the bodywork sorted on the 2nd March. The new door I've just bought has a couple very minor dents and scratches on it, but they'll come out or blow over easily, where as the current door needs a lot of new metal added, so this way I'll save a lot of money.

I'm also considering saving some more money by not having the whole car resprayed just yet either. I feel it might be foolish to treat a car to that extent that I've only had a month, and not knowing what issues it may have waiting for me just around the corner. (No "just around the corner jokes please

). I think I'd rather wait a while until I'm convinced she's a reliable motor before shedding out that kind of money.

However other than the rust, the only other noticeable bodywork issue is the blown laquer on the roof and the general matte condition of the paint as a whole, so I think I'm going to go a little bit rough and raw with this one for a bit

Just need to sort the gear gaiter out and find a replacement ashtray, otherwise the interior is imaculate.

And the progress so far!

Having spent the hour journey back with her on Saturday thinking about what the possibilities were for why she wouldn't start (And talking to Honda hardy a bit as well

), I was obviously over the moon that simply sticking the decent battery from the Aerodeck in caused her to start instantly

However she was ridiculously loud due to the fact the downpipe was blowing. Not to worry though, next job was to removing the old downpipe and fit the new... He says

... Of course it never happens that easily... This is an old Honda downpipe we're talking about. I won't go into details, but 5 hours later after a lot of situps, straining and swearing, I had managed to remove the whole system

Just need to replace the studs and nuts and clean the thread out now, as this is what I was left with...

So I've ordered a new manifold the head gasket today and this is the new downpipe and centre section to go back on...

There was also a second mid section pipe in the car, again brand new, but it's not for this car

It's got the right flange to fit the downpipe, so I assume it's Honda, but it's shorter and goes the other way. I was thinking maybe it's from and EE/EF Civic ??? ...

Anyway that all removed I gave the engine a quick dust and ridded it of all the cobwebs

but I'll give it a good proper clean along with the general valet on the weekend...

I'll also replace the crappy rusty filter a quality Green filter I have kicking about. The induction already sounds good, so she should sound even better, especially once the exhaust is up together

Still going to be running the mahoosive 4 inch can on the back for a bit though

Oh, also need to replace the radiator too, but I'll aim to do that right after the MOT along with all the other fluids and filters as and when she passes
